- Share our passion for building with our clients, and let our love for what we do show in our work.
- Listen to our clients. We aim to establish a trusting relationship from the first meeting, and we work tirelessly to maintain that trust throughout the project.
- Offer realistic pricing estimates. We take a thorough assessment of our customers’ needs, and establish reasonable budgets to meet those needs. When changes are made, we work with our clients to find ways to accommodate the changes while maintaining the budget as much as possible.
- Fight for our clients. We treat our clients’ budgets as our own, and we negotiate with our subcontractors and vendors throughout the project to achieve pricing that we would be happy with if we were in our clients’ position. We are known among our industry as being tough but fair, and we achieve that reputation by being clear as to what we expect and documenting it.
- Stick to the schedule. We know that our clients rely on us not only to produce top quality work on budget, but also on time.
- Build the best quality structures utilizing the latest building science technologies. We stay educated on the latest research and discoveries, and use that knowledge within our fundamental framework for building structures that will be efficient, healthy, and that will last for generations.
- Love where we live. We love Charlottesville and Central Virginia, and we aim to enhance both the landscape and our communities by building well, building beautifully, and by giving back to the community that has put its trust in us.
Element Construction was established in 2011 by Mike Ball. Mike has built a name for himself among his clients as a premier and respected builder in the Charlottesville area and as someone who is thorough, knowledgeable and attentive to his clients’ needs. Over the years, Mike has grown Element into one of the most sought after builders in central Virginia, building high-quality, thoughtfully designed, award-winning projects.
In 2022, Dwell Construction merged into Element Construction. Steven Luck and Mike started Dwell together in 2015 as a company specializing in high-quality, high-touch additions and renovations. After years of operating side by side as “sister companies”, they officially merged the two companies together to increase efficiency, capacity, and be able to provide the very best service to our clients. Steven is a Charlottesville native. Before starting Dwell, he earned an Engineering degree from UVA and spent time working in both commercial construction and with the Charlottesville chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
Mike, Steven and their team are adept at handling all aspects of the construction process in a professional manner, from preconstruction management and estimating through budget updates, subcontracting, and on-site quality control.
